Spirit Week is one of the most dynamic and meaningful weeks at Casvi International American School Tres Cantos. For four days, students and teachers transformed the campus into a showcase of diversity, reinforcing their own identity and respect for cultural roots—key elements in the development of the International Baccalaureate.
The students have explored their family heritage through four main themes. This exercise aims to help students understand their place in a globalized world, while honoring their own origins and learning more about those of their classmates.
Both students in the PYP (Primary Years Programme) and those in the MYP (Middle Years Programme) have participated in these events, which have filled the school with color. The days were:
- Colors of the flag.
- Music and instruments.
- Sports and role models.
- Traditional costume.
At Casvi, the model of American studies and the curriculum of the IB come together to foster critical thinking, but also intercultural understanding that is experienced every day at school. Spirit Week is the perfect opportunity for the students to not only showcase their culture but also to learn from the experiences of their classmates in a direct and organic way.
Observing the multiculturalism in the hallways, on the playground, and in the classrooms creates a unique learning environment. These types of activities help students identify their strengths and understand the history behind each symbol.
