ADMISSIONS CASVI TRES CANTOS

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

At Casvi International American School, we work with our students from the age of 3 so that, in the future, they can successfully overcome the challenges of the Diploma Program.

Within an international environment and following the American educational model, we work with the children on their autonomy, self-esteem, and personal skills so that they can face the challenges ahead of them.

American System Elementary School

Our goal is to educate global citizens through an inquiry-based learning approach. We support them so that, in the future, they thrive and achieve their goals. We want them to be part of a diverse international community that generates a a positive impact on society.

For us, it is very important that our students feel supported throughout the school year. Thanks to our group of native English-speaking professionals specialized in Elementary School, together with the school’s Guidance Department, we provide children with the attention and stimulation they need in all areas of knowledge.

Elementary School

Our teaching methodology is based on the American educational model: Elementary School, Middle School, and High School.

The Elementary School stage (which corresponds to the first part of Primary Education), includes Grade 1 through Grade 5 (from 6 to 10 years old). During this stage, children continue studying the International Baccalaureate Primary School Program (PYP).

This educational system provides students with a framework for inquiry-based learning that focuses on the holistic development of the child, both in the classroom and in the outside world.

In Grade 5, the final year of the Elementary School stage, students are required to complete a personal project. To carry out this project, they must research and document a topic that is important or of interest to them, and explore how it can be useful to society.

Correspondence between the Spanish system and Elementary School

A child can begin Elementary School at the age of 6 just like in Spanish Primary School. The difference is that in Spanish Primary Educations goes from 1st to 6th grade, ending at age 11, while Elementary School in the American system goes from Grade 1 to Grade 5 (ending at age 10).

After that, students move on to Middle School (Grade 6 to 8).

Elementary School: Diagram of our methodology

As shown in the official diagram of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP), we work across all areas of knowledge, supported by the development of skills and the approaches to teaching and learning.

We present different units of inquiry: who we are, how we share the planet, where we are in place and time… Through each unit, we guide children’s curiosity toward a variety of educational topics.

Foundations of our international teaching at Casvi American Elementary School

At Casvi International American School, we offer full linguistic and cultural immersion, following the American educational model.

Physical, musical, and artistic expression, together with sports, are integrated in a transdisciplinary into Casvi’s educational model from Pre-school through Elementary and Secondary School.

Languages

English is the language of instruction at all stages. All subjects are taught by native English-speaking teachers, most of whom are American. This allows for complete linguistic immersion from the very beginning.

As an international primary school, Spanish is taught only in the subjects of Spanish Language and Culture.

In addition to these two languages, we promote the learning of other languages such as Chinese and German.

STEAM in Makerspace

Within the IB Elementary School Programme, we apply STEAM, an integrative, cross-curricular approach that fosters students’ interest in science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics.

Students develop this approach in Makerspace, a classroom where they share resources and knowledge to create different projects. An active, hands-on methodology is applied, strengthening the concept of Learning by Doing.

We believe that technology plays an integral role in supporting students learning, which involves studying technology as a discipline. In some cases, this includes learning how the technology works through robotics or design and application development classes. In other cases, students use technology to complete classroom activity.

In our elementary school, we aim to ensure that technology is present across all areas of learning, always seeking balance to support other learning strategies.

Arts

Art is expressed through a wide range of opportunities. From the Preschool stage, students at our elementary school take classes in visual arts, music, and physical expression.

In Elementary School, students participate in music classes, where they sing or learn to play instruments such as the ukulele or piano, as well as Technical Drawing, Design, and Debate.

Public speaking and debating skills are essential components of all academic programs at every stages.

We also offer Dance as a subject, taught by a specialized teacher. Starting in Grade 1, students have two hours of dance per week, where they learn body expression through choreography.

Sports

In addition to physical education classes, we offer extensive athletic opportunities for all of our students.

In accordance with the International Baccalaureate methodology, the theoretical and practical learning of different sports disciplines is fundamental. Teachers work with our students to promote healthy competitiveness, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

We identify and support each student’s individual aptitudes and abilities, whether they are future elite athletes or students who have never practiced a team sport before.

Thanks to our extensive sports facilities, the sports our students practice include basketball, soccer, volleyball, tennis, and paddle tennis. We have a soccer field, an indoor sports center, two tennis courts, two paddle tennis courts, and a table tennis area.
