IB METHODOLOGY

International Baccalaureate School in Madrid

Casvi International American School is one the few private schools in Madrid that offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program Continuum. These three programs are PYP (Primary Years Program), MYP (Middle Years Program), and DP (Diploma Program).

The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a globally recognized educational approach that seeks to develop well-rounded, reflective, and internationally minded individuals. This educational framework focuses not only on the academic part but also on the integral education of students, teaching skills such as critical thinking, inquiry, and empathy. The IB methodology encourages students to explore connections between disciplines, promoting intercultural understanding and positive action in the community.

At Casvi International American School, as an International Baccalaureate school in Madrid, we fully embrace the IB principles to inspire deep and lasting learning in our students. From an early age, we encourage the acquisition of skills and aptitudes useful for our students to face the challenges of the future.

PYP (3 - 12 years old)

MYP (11 - 16 years old)

DP (16 - 18 years old)

The Programa de la Escuela Primaria or Primary Years Program (PYP) enables students to develop and express their opinions, make choices, and take responsibility. Through units of inquiry, students develop a solid conceptual understanding beyond the acquisition of knowledge. It forms supportive and culturally aware children, capable of actively participating in their own learning.

In addition, it is an inclusive program that benefits students with a wide range of academic interests and skills. Students’ confidence to manage their own learning and make connections between their learning in the classroom and in the real world is developed.

American Curriculum

We teach the International Baccalaureate (IB) methodology within the American curriculum, which is distinguished by its comprehensive approach and adaptability to the individual needs of students. We provide a solid education from Preschool through High School and Diploma Program.

In the early stages of Preschool, we focus on the development of fundamental skills and encourage children’s curiosity. As they advance to more advanced levels in Primary School, our curriculum expands to address more in-depth academic concepts and specialized skills.

Our educational methodology in these later phases, as in Middle School, focuses on preparing students for higher academic challenges, while cultivating practical skills and critical thinking. Thus, throughout all phases, we seek to provide our students with the foundation necessary to become High School and achieve academic and personal success.
