Kindergarten students have started off the unit of inquiry “How we organize ourselves” by reflecting in groups about new concepts and reading the story of Ana, a girl who goes to Washington D.C for the very first time with her family and visits The White House.
President’s Day is a United States Federal holiday celebrated on the third Monday of February in honor of George Washington, the first President of the United States, who was born on February.
So, to go into concepts such as citizenship and democracy, students got familiar with new vocabulary words as flag, citizen and president.
They have learned the basic structure and function of a government and have discovered the most important places to visit in D.C.
