In the American education system, at what age should a child be enrolled in school?

Choosing a school for your children is not only a family priority but also a huge responsibility, especially in today’s uncertain times. The main concern is to make the right choice, a choice that will last for years and will also condition the future of your children. There is no magic formula, nor a single option. In fact, every day we have a wider range of possibilities. Among all of them is Casvi International American School, which is not only an American international school with native teachers, it is much more.

Because our educational project is based on the three International Baccalaureate Programs, a recognized methodology that promotes the development of skills and abilities of all children from an early age. However, along with all this range of possibilities, different doubts also arise. One of the most recurrent questions is, at what age can my child be enrolled in school in the American system?

In the Spanish formal education system, children must be enrolled in school from the age of six. However, within the American educational system this changes slightly. Within this methodology and training, compulsory formal education begins at five years of age. However, more and more parents feel the need to start their children’s education at a very early age. And no wonder. Several studies confirm the multiple benefits of offering an excellent education to children from the age of three. At Casvi International American School we share these values and ideas, that is why we offer an education of excellence and reference in the whole Community of Madrid to our students and families from the age of three.

Casvi International American School is a reference center for international and global education, quality, innovative, and highly personalized, where students reach the highest levels of excellence in their academic and personal development from an early age. By having an American curriculum with native teachers, students experience a complete linguistic immersion, which will give them a real advantage in their future. The return on the educational investment in the early stages of education is very high since these students will obtain a better performance and better results throughout their entire educational stage. These benefits will even be visible in their working and personal lives.

The benefits of early schooling are also demonstrated in the analysis of various national and international external evaluations, such as the PISA test conducted on 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics and science. This analysis confirms that students who have received schooling from an early age obtain better results and tend to react better than those who have not. This study also shows that a longer duration of pre-school also improves the performance of these students.

Pre-School students develop their cognitive skills through inquiry methods.

At Casvi International American School we train our students under the IB methodology and with an American curriculum. This means that each student is prepared for the real world and has sufficient skills to face any challenge in today’s society. In the American curriculum we have a balance with the Spanish educational model. But in our case, we have some differences, such as the option of early schooling for our students.

At Casvi International American School, during the Pre-School period our students can start their schooling from the age of three. During this period, they develop their cognitive skills through inquiry methods. In this way, students develop their ability to analyze the world around them. All Casvi students, from the age of three, develop an IB profile, which implies that they are inquirers, open-minded, informed and educated, supportive, thinkers, daring, good communicators, balanced, upright, and reflective. Ten attributes that undoubtedly shape responsible members of local, national and global communities.
