Encouraging healthy competition in children when playing sports is one of the most important things. We live in a highly competitive world in all senses and therefore, working on this aspect is something primordial at Casvi Tres Cantos.
The term competitiveness does not have to have a negative connotation. On the contrary, healthy competitiveness is very, very beneficial for children and acquiring it is fundamental for their current development and for their future life. Healthy competitiveness helps children to achieve the things they set out to do. However, it is also important to keep in mind that frustration can appear if they do not succeed and therefore it is necessary to work on how to manage it.
Good competence can help them to cope in different situations, to improve their self-esteem and to learn to work in a team. Here, parents and teachers play a fundamental role since they are in charge of helping them to develop tolerance and empathy in the face of frustration. They have to see defeats as a new opportunity for development.
“The important thing is not to win but to participate, because the important thing in life is not to achieve success but to strive for it.”
There are a number of reasons why competitive sports are good for children:
1. They stimulate confidence and self-confidence.
2. They encourage the value of effort.
3. They learn to take risks.
4. They lose the fear to compete.
5. They learn to accept defeats.
6. They learn the value of perseverance and perseverance.
7. They develop resilience, the ability to overcome life’s obstacles and learn to adapt to them.
8. They perform better in school and achieve better academic results.
9. They learn commitment because they know that competing will take up part of their day or week.
Children begin to adapt to this competitive world through play. Through it, they learn that losing and winning is a natural part of the process of growing up and of life. However, there are a number of factors that will help them better understand healthy competition.
-Traveling helps them to open their minds and to better understand the world around them in which there are different races, cultures, languages or values.
