The spirit of the 1920s and the glamour of the iconic novel The Great Gatsby flooded the grand prom at Casvi International American School de Casvi International American School. A highly anticipated event that brought together Grade 10 students for an unforgettable evening, which also featured the participation of classmates from Grade 9, Grade 11, and DP1, strengthening the bonds of unity within the school community of Tres Cantos.
This dance marked a highlight of social gatherings and a demonstration of the ability to organize a series of events and the management of the students’ own initiatives.
A setting from that era
The evening’s success was a direct result of teamwork. The students, working closely with their teachers, were responsible for designing the concept, decorating the space, and coordinating the food and beverage service for all attendees. This direct involvement in event production fosters key skills such as decision-making and task allocation.
The auditorium for events was transformed, thanks to these students and their teachers, into a “dance hall” from the 20s. Some teachers even came fully dressed in period costume to get into character.
The prom is seen as a means of self-expression for students, with the aim of helping them view school as a place that combines academic life with fun. In addition, dancing offers physical benefits and serves as a cultural gathering. The school is seen as a vibrant environment, becoming a setting for social interaction where friendships and memories are forged.
Memories captured at the photocall
One of the busiest and most fun spots of the night was the interactive photocall. Students and teachers could capture the evening with photos printed on the spot. In addition, the space featured a variety of props to complement the outfits: from glasses and masks to hats and toy swords. It was a fun mix of eras and props to enjoy.
It was undoubtedly an activity that, on its own, provided the perfect setting for sharing laughter, striking creative poses, and taking home a tangible memento.
The Full Experience: Prom King and Queen
As is traditional at American high schools, the highlight of the evening came with the much-anticipated vote and the announcement of the Prom King and Queen. Congratulations to the winners! And, of course, congratulations to everyone who worked to make that day and that event an incredible experience.
