Every year, at the end of the stage of the Primary Years Programme at Casvi International American School, the students face one of their biggest academic challenges: the Exhibition of PYP.
This event represents the culmination of a long process of independent research, in which the students choose a topic of their overall interest, which they research in depth and present their conclusions to the educational community.
The drive toward its new phase: MYP
This test of autonomy and critical thinking that promotes the International Baccalaureate is the one that helps them manage their own time, verify sources of information that are reliable, and find real solutions. The research leads them to discover more about themselves: what they like, what they might become when they’re older, what options are available for studying in the future…
The educational model of Casvi, combined with the American system, enables the children to discover their own strengths starting at age 3. This project on inquiry is the perfect bridge to demonstrate that they are ready to take on the responsibility that will be required of them in the next stage of their education: the MYP (Middle Years Program), since by the time they complete it, they will also have an exhibition much more comprehensive of the MYP Projects, showcasing all their capabilities.
Solution to current problems
La variedad de las investigaciones demuestra el compromiso y el conocimiento de los alumnos de Casvi con el entorno actual. Entre los proyectos presentados, destacan investigaciones aplicadas a la sostenibilidad, la ciencia y la sociedad.
Sustainability and the circular economy: prototypes of home gardens with systems for irrigation and fertilizers made from ecological byproducts from coffee grounds from coffee, shells from eggs, and bananas.
Climate change: A student analyzed the direct causes of the increase in global temperature due to deforestation.
Geology: A student revealed why earthquakes occur, which areas are the most prone to seismic activity, and how current technology allows us to predict their impact to save lives.
We’re really looking forward to seeing you in your next phase! We wish you all the best, little researchers.
